UnknownUnknown is one of those action thrillers that is anything but unknown to audiences. If you’ve seen the preview you’ve basically seen the entire movie, minus the punch line.

Liam Neeson has become an action superstar at the ripe age of 59 years old, and with his size, stature and fightin’ Irish heritage, it’s actually believable that he’d still come out on top in a brawl. Here he plays Dr. Martin Harris who has travelled to Germany with his wife to attend a conference. But the unexpected occurs (unless you’ve seen the preview) and he winds up in the hospital after a car accident with no memory of what happened. The nightmare begins when it seems he’s been replaced by an imposter, someone who claims to be the real Martin Harris – and even his own wife (January Jones) doesn’t seem to recognize him.

Neeson and JonesJust like in the movie Taken, it’s up to Neeson to kick some ass and figure out what’s going on.

Liam is his usual cool and collected self, even in the face of insane danger. He’s always a bankable star at the box office and never disappoints. January Jones of Mad Men fame doesn’t do much by way of acting, but she looks stunning which is pretty much what the role calls for.

Kruger and NeesonUnknown kept me guessing for a while, but once the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place it is your typical action thriller; plenty of gunfire, fast punches and high-speed car chases. Audiences who know what they are in for won’t be disappointed but I found the two hour run time a little long.
