KillersSo far this year alone I have reviewed about 40 movies, so you know it means something when a film tops any category. Killers has the distinct honour of being the worst film I’ve seen so far this year. There have been some pretty awful offerings, but this one takes the cake.

Heigl and KutcherKatherine Heigl is Jen, a thirty-something woman who has recently been “dumped” by a loser boyfriend who she thought was the one. Now relegated to vacationing in France with her overbearing parents, she meets the man of her dreams in the form of Ashton Kutcher. Jen is determined to find a man who won’t lie to her, but instead she gets the mammoth of all liars – a special agent for the CIA with a license to kill. Fast forward about 3 years and they are a typical married couple with a 20-million dollar bounty on their heads.

If I was being kind I’d just tell you the whole story since it wouldn’t be as painful as having to sit through 120-minutes of bad scene after bad scene. My legs jittered. My eyelids drooped. Time ticked by with infinite slowness. At one point I considered making a Starbucks run just to take a break from this film. Killers? I think I’ll just kill myself!

Heigl and Kutcher on the lambKillers manages to fail miserably on all levels despite a charming and talented cast filled out by Catherine O’Hara and Tom Selleck. Ashton Kutcher’s good looks and mischievous grin aren’t enough to bring this script back from the dead. And Katherine Heigl has so much potential as a comedic actress but she just seems to be choosing one dud after another.

Killers is an absolute mess – one that not even Tom Selleck’s moustache can mop up.

Killers is directed by Robert Luketic, starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.

The audience at this film laughed, but I don’t know why. Maybe I’m missing something.

Tom Selleck is scheduled to star in a follow up to Three Men and a Baby called Three Men and a Bride.
